The mission of the Sons of Norway is to promote, preserve and cherish a lasting appreciation of Norwegian heritage and culture and other Nordic countries, while growing soundly as a fraternal benefit society and offering maximum benefits to its members

Vestafjell Lodge represents the western slope of Colorado, meeting at 2:00PM on the second Sunday each month.

The Lodge meets in various towns on the western slope, Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose, Paonia, Glenwood Springs and others. Please see the meeting schedule for dates and programs.

We welcome anyone with an interest in Norwegian and Scandinavian culture and heritage.

Vestafjell Lodge was chartered June 13, 1990. In 1988, people of Norwegian descent began meeting in Delta. Anita Seitz and Inger Bakke were the organizers of this group. They soon decided to join the International Sons of Norway Fraternal organization, designating the group as the Vestafjell Lodge. Vestafjell means " West of the Mountains". New members joined from Grand Junction, Basalt and other areas of western Colorado. There were fifty charter members.

Since then, the lodge has grown to over one hundred members. Meetings are held the second Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at various locations around western Colorado.

Norwegian heritage programs, good food and socializing are enjoyed by all who attend.

Vestafjell Lodge was named the "Small Lodge of the Year" by District 6 of the Sons of Norway in 2001 and in 2003.
